bad analogies

as many of you may or may not know (what the heck was the point of starting this blog with this very well, stupid statement) i am a master of bad analogies. actually i only found out this year, or if you've told me b4, i forgot, and i'm sorry.

but the past..well two days, a couple ppl (ahem john and derek) have been throwing around so many analogies thats its starting to drive me nuts! ENOUGH WITH YOUR SHIPS and PAPERS and PORTS! you know, i was so tempted to just use my rocket launcher to blow those analogies "out of the water" hahahaha.

fortunately for them, i have a much better thing to rant about today. see, my chem prof has this thing for reading newspaper in her class. of course, i read all the time in that class cuz i dont know whats going on, and i just figured out that even when i read the paper, i manage to pick things up cuz i was okay in tutorial yesterday. so today, after reading about P Diddy coming to toronto, i decide to pick up the paper, ruffle it a bit, then fold it up. of course, this caused more of a ruckus than i had planned. in fact, the prof stopped in midsentence, proceed to ask me to put away my newspaper, basically pointing me out in front of everybody.

and NO im not gonna rant about the prof cuz what she did was well by her rules of "no newspapers in class". i just felt like a complete idiot cuz about 1/4 of the class reads newspapers, just no one gets caught. until me. good old stupid me!! i felt like a deer caught in headlights that then proceeded to trot off to the side and eat pizza

(analogy critique - started off promising with the whole deer thing, then just "sunk" (refer to ships rant to understand the pun) after the whole pizza thing)

yes i went and got myself pizza a lil later on. and now its all good.
and no i dont think i'll waste a rocket on myself. cuz then nobody would be around to man the rocket launcher when i'm gone. but i promise if i ever decide to ditch this whole rocket launcher bit, i'll blow myself up last.

I got an easter egg yesterday night from some frosh. I'd like to think i got the special one, the one that can stand by itself, as can be seen in the picture. But thats only cuz its cracked at the bottom. Still a very thoughtful gift. Thank you frosh with too much time on their hands.

hail to the bus driver

i decided to take coach canada home today instead of the tricolor so that i could get home at a more decent time of day. it was nice to see some familiar faces at the bus station and on the bus itself.

but the thing that really caught my attention on the bus ride back to kingston was the bus driver. literally every bus he passed or got passed by or any bus going in the opposite direction, he would stick up his hand, and wave at the driver of the other bus. and all the bus drivers waved back, even though they were like across the median and in the far lane.

i wonder if they have some sort of bus driver code or sth. this is the first bus driver i've seen do this, although this is the first time i've sat front enough in the bus to even observe the bus driver.

i'm bored and feeling random

even more so than usual, so lets go!
1. i found this image for ya'll to enjoy. this is me on the trip back from winter retreat. i can be found in a similar state during some of my classes, or in fact, like this morning, you can find me like this in my own bed at home WHILE class is happening.

2. i bumped into the most random ppl today. there are march break tours going on for high school students. i bumped into jocelyn fan and family (minus the older sister who is of course at her own university)

3. gilmore girls has now entered the list of shows i watch. YES you heard me right. NO i am not turning all fruity on you. and NO i will not discuss any further why i like this show. i just do.

4. this is the second time i'm blogging today. day b4 easter, i have officially shut it down for the weekend. i have played tons of mariokart today, napped, visited some dudes upstairs, jammed, watched a lot of tv.

5. listening to sky. good old pop music, where have you gone. oh right, down the toilet. i didnt even need to blow you up with my rocket launcher. you killed yourself.

6. my cold is slowly going away. altho it doesnt help that i'm constantly popping cheerios which goes down really bad with my not so good throat.

7. apple cinnamon cheerios are by far my favorite cheerios. actually scratch that, they're right up there with frosted cheerios. even better when both are in same mouthful of cheerios. mmmm

8. i managed to not hand in my assignment today. that means i hafta wake up early just to get it in before they clean out the "hand in" box tomorow morning. aww nuts.

9. i think i need a good music player thing for my computer. i dont like winamp 5! i dont like realplayer (unless its for 722 or things of that nature). i dont like windows media player. and itunes lags my computer. i think the root of the problem is i dont like my slow old pentium 3 computer.

10. are you STILL READING? wow...if you are, congradulations, you are the best readership known to this blog ever. but i'm not done.

11. in an attempt to get cultured, i may watch brotherhood of the wolf. its a french film, of course i'm watching with english dubbing. looks half decent. i guess we'll find out.

12. this blog post was written over a span of 45 minutes where i have been doing many more random things in between.

im done...for tonight

thank you for wasting my time

after ranting about chemistry yesterday, who knew that i would have more beef later on in the day. for SOME unknown reason, chemistry tutorial was cancelled yesterday. but of course, the students werent told, so i made the long 15 minute trek from my house to where i had tutorial only to wait a good 10 minutes b4 deciding the TA wasnt coming.

is an email notice too much to ask for? how about a quick announcement in class or sth?! CMON PPL! have some decency! most of you must be wondering why i'm complaining about a cancelled tutorial, but i needed that tutorial! i'm dying in that class. i would use the rocket launcher to make the TA vanish, but i sorta liked that TA (he was good at what he did) and plus, he didnt show up on his own account yesterday.

oh well, lets see, today the computer nerds that use their laptops to take notes in class amused me. one of them was again furiously drawing all the diagrams with the laptop. the other, had a good two pages of text displayed on his screen. so a lot of that class was spent pondering what in the world he was reading. a book? news? it was quite puzzling indeed. i think i need to take my camera to class to get shots of this. its absolutely ridiculous!

every tuesday

i somehow manage to fit in a complaint about my 8am chem lab every tuesday. i should just start a segment every tuesday that is focused entirely on my chem lab, but luckily for you (my dear readership hehehe) there is only one lab left. actually its every other tuesday that i have lab, and that coincides with my cisc logic test every other tuesday. so i also got pissed off at high school kids in the caf again. so if i really wanted to do a segment, it would be named "things on tuesday that piss me off - chemistry and high school children"

so todays lab was a quick crystallization and recrystallization. and honestly, it was quick. but the retarded thing was, we had to determine melting points for our two different products. so that requires the person doing the lab (me) to stuff a lil bit of the sample product into a test tube, and then wait and watch until the thing melts. so the first product went off without a hitch. but the second product, did NOT want to melt. it just, stayed in its crystal format, and we're talking about heats of 180-200 degrees here. EVENTUALLY my sample melted, but my chem partner's ( i got a new one today as my old one dropped the course ... tells u a lot about the course when 150 ppl drop out) did not melt, even at temps of 200+.

i spent a good HALF HOUR standing there staring through a lil viewing area not much bigger than my pinky, and i was hungry, i wanted to get out of the lab so i could go study for my test i'm writing in about..20 minutes now...BAH

i think i finally figured it out though, albeit (is that even a word? i seem to be using a lot of weird vocabulary lately) a lil late for the lab. if a chemical compound does not want to melt, you use...what do those chemists call it..a catalyst. altho, not a traditional catalyst because you neither get ur catalyst back nor do u get ur product. but the product does...melt, in a sense. you see, its a special ingredient i call a ROCKET, launched from my very own rocket launcher, right into that darned tube. i guarantee you a swift and effective melting of your product. in fact, i'll go so far as to guarantee 100% vaporization.

i think i'm gonna go write a commercial or a jingle, and maybe market this new idea of mine. mmm after a second more logical thought process (logic..get it..i'm writing a logi oh forget it), i will go write my test now. good day (indeed it is a very nice day outside)

did u know that if you are Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobic, you fear long words? kinda looks like an oxymoron to me. (thanks to gitch for his list of phobias)

okay, i really need to stop doing nothing (hey another oxymoron!...yes i am also stealing this from another website)

butterfingers

over the course of...well the last day and a half, i have deemed myself the clumsiest person KNOWN TO MAN.

1. while picking up my laundry hamper, i managed to bump sum things on my table, which set off a chain reaction resulting in the death of my beloved mug. it is the only cup i use, and now its gone. i'm feeling a little empty without my cup.

2. while patting kwan on the head as a gesture of saying goodbye as i was heading to class, i accidentally spilled some cappucino onto his schoolbag. now this is not completely all my fault as he stuck out his hand, which then bumped into my cup, but still...

3. the SAME CUP of cappucino i had spilled on kwans bag, i proceeded to spill in class...since i didnt want to miss anything important (there was nothing important to miss), i didnt go get tissue to clean it up until after class.

okay, thats nothing to be too mad about, i blame my disfunctionality (ha i just made up a word) on my illness..which i'm beginning to feel better...

but what i'm really a lil mad at today is queen's used bookstore. you see, they sell discounted bus tickets for queen's students...and u would THINK that after years of experience, they would know that easter is quite a popular holiday for ppl to go home. NOPE. they decide to have ONE person taking care of ONE lineup for EVERYONE that wants bus tickets. usually they break the lineup into two so that ppl paying by cash will have a lil easier time than ppl paying by debit/credit. NOPE. since i needed to get a bus ticket, i waited in line for, ONE FULL HOUR... such a waste of time. rocket launcher, meet the bookstore. bookstore, meet the rocket launcher.

*bricks crumble to the floor*

now back to studying.

need to catch my breathe

its been pretty non-stop for me the past few days, had a few late nights, and a had quite a few early mornings. i think maybe after tuesday i can finally sit back and get some much needed rest.

lets start with thursday.
of course, thursday night is my tv marathon night, but i also had two midterms that day. one i killed (cisc 235) and the other i got killed by (cisc 260). for 260, the real prof has not been around since...the first month of this semester. that means i hafta put up with a TA, which if u think back to last semester, i already ranted about his inability to teach because well, he clearly lacks experience. he talks to the chalkboard, and is boring as heck in lectures. i mean, i aced the first midterm when the original prof was teaching, how could i possibly fall this hard!? okay, i probably had more to do with it, but i'm still not too happy that i hafta put up with a TA when i'm being told that each lecture costs me a ridiculous amount of money...give me back my real prof queen's university.

friday.
after stayin up a lil later than expected on thursday night, i had to deal with my tiredness and my throat is not being very nice. and at night, we had to plan for kccf's annual cooking contest. i was so tired by the time planning came around that i couldnt contribute much. not much else goin on friday, i think i fell asleep a lot during that day, in class, during my breaks, after class...etc

saturday.
most other things are irrelevant for that day except for the cooking contest. my group did not win, and it wasnt as hyped up as last year, but it was still massive. lots of good times, lots of good food...but by the end of the night, i was feeling pretty tired/sick...

ha this is what happens when u get distracted and u try to come BACk to a blog post, ur mind comes up with a blank. i need sleep. i'm sure i had plenty of things i wanted to rant about. but i'll drop it for now.

adventures of 311

so i have two tests tomorow. and if you have two tests the following day, whats the one logical thing to do the night b4?
i mean, i had a few options available to me
a) study, which believe me i did, more so than other tests
b) play mariokart, which i did NOT
c) watch a LOT of tv, only ONE show, when i could've watched two...self control baby
d) get a fly as a present, try to catch the fly with chopsticks so that it could be eaten by a venus flytrap, lose the fly in the process, REcapture the fly, and watch as the plant does not eat the fly

if you guessed D then you are a winner, congradulations, we have a ... dead fly and a half dead venus fly trap for you.

SO YES, thats what i just spent the last...wow, half hour at least doing, i dont think i'll post the video cuz i dont think many ppl will actually watch it but if you want it, just message me for it.

so amidst the madness here in kingston, i of course have taken time out to blog. cuz after all our hard work of catching (actually we didnt capture it the first time, but i'm sure it was hard work) and recapturing the fly, the plant does NOT eat the fly, even after we place the STILL ALIVE fly right on top of it. and then the fly sat there, for a good two minutes, and NOTHING! SO DISAPPOINTING. its all over now, we have since given up on our quest to kill the fly cuz its probably as good as dead now, but i think its time i deploy my rocket launcher, and blow this plant to BITS.
oh hahah turns out we kinda half killed the plant, so might as well finish it off.

*shhhhh (silence before the storm) BANG*

my new attitude

yesterday, i found out i had done really well on a test worth 22.5%.
this wasnt any normal test tho. firstly, i had the day wrong, so i only had one day to study, and the night that i did study, i ended up giving up, and i actually walked out of the test early cuz i thought i didnt know what was going on.

turns out i was wrong!

so my new approach to this whole school business is...forget about the test till the day b4, and give up!

okay, so that is totally not my new attitude, in fact i'm studying for the tests i have on thursday. but while i was "studying"...i came across this site HERE

very interesting stuff...i actually spent a lot of last night just going through this dudes photoblog...found very interesting shots, maybe this will make me want to start taking pictures again.

*edit*

bringing me to....my old computer. my ancient pentium 3 of a computer will not allow me to load anything newer than photoshop FIVE onto it. angers me, after using photoshop cs last year on my lappy, to hafta go BACK to using an outdated version with limited capabilities, BAH!

normally, this would be the time i would take out my rocket launcher, and blow up my computer, but... i really do need to get back to studying for this exam, and my notes are all this computer right now...so i'll wait until..another day. sorry rocket launcher.

strum strum strum snap

first off, i'd like to say that i think all churches should start at 10:30. i was much more awake than i usually am on a sunday morning as i went to a 10:30am bethel service instead of my regular 9:30am kcac service. and of course, since i refuse to blow up a church, i will instead think of sth else to rant about. well i guess the reason why i went to later church today is cuz i slept a lot later than usual yesterday night.

a couple of us guys were upstairs jamming, we had a good 5 guitars going. and anyone who knows me knows i dont play very loud or anything (specially on drums...just compare me to my brother chris..cmon not even close), and the thing was, i wasnt even playing at the time of string snappage. i was TUNING! darn it...maybe i shouldnt have tuned so much. but tonight i will blow up the stupid guitar string that snapped on me, rendering me guitarless for today (i had to borrow my friends guitar to jam tonight..which explains why i'm again up so late)

*a**** aims rocket launcher only to realize the string is already broken*
*a**** puts down rocket launcher and goes to sleep*

my peaceful night..ruined

so last night, i was ready to sit down with a couple of my housemates and enjoy an oscar nominated movie, ray. mike had bought this movie at p mall over reading week (of course it was a fake). SO, everytime the dvd made a transition between scenes, there was a delay...and it was really weird, to the point where i felt like i was missing part of the story. so i gave up watching after half an hour. my housemates decided to finish it and are still going on about how good it was.

STUPID FAKE DVDS! if ur gonna make them, at least do a GOOD JOB on them please! ha.

*a**** takes dvd... tries to rip it in half, gives up cuz he's too weak and just chucks it out the window, then aims his rocket launcher at it and blows it to bits*

just use PAPER

since i've been in university, i've had my share of encounters with keeners. specially life sci keeners which have scrwed a couple of us out of a chance to redeem ourselves in organic chemistry, but thats a different story that i've probably ranted about b4.

now, introducing the computing keener. this specimen of keener will go to class, sit more or less near the front and ask questions. okay, nothing special there. they they proceed to take out a laptop (usually one thats so ridiculously small and compact that it makes you want to punch them in the face so u can take it for yourself) to take down notes in class.

i actually dont have a problem with this if you're in a class where the prof talks a lot or writes a lot down. i myself have experimented with this last year and found it slightly effective. but the thing that pissed me off today was that it was in a computing class where the teacher was drawing DIAGRAMS. and this guy in front of me was furiously going at his laptop drawing all these trees, triangles and circles...in microsoft word. like at least get a mac, correct me if i'm wrong, but those things are much more easier to draw diagrams on. i have no idea how he's even gonna study from those things! i dont think he was paying attention much, just tryin to get all those diagrams down!

so today, i will be taking out my fancy schmancy EMP to FRY your lil laptops so that you can go back to using paper, and to keep me from being distracted while i marvel at your ridiculous note-taking ways.

*shriek*

thats how i sounded tonight. tonight was my first time "co-leading" worship, ever. And only my second time up there with a guitar. yes it was only practice. but they're encouraging ppl to "step up" for next year...and it sure was tiring "standing up" for an entire practice as opposed to what i usually get to do ('kick' back and relax (hahaha get it..cuz i kick the bass drum) wow so many bad puns in one sentence. overload.

well ne ways, back to what i was saying. i didnt choose the songs for this set, i mean, baby steps right? first time actually SINGING so...why not just give it a shot first. but the songs picked, actually, the KEYS they were in (all in G except for one)...wow there are parts of each song that i really cant hit...unless i go all falsetto on myself. and now, i think i lost my voice. what a newb huh.

so i would like to "blow up" (you know, increase) my vocal range. wow. i actually think i may be getting better at this pun stuff. my vocal range needs to be able to hit that high g. so i can sing for all the songs without awkwardly cutting out, or going down an octave.

*pow* (one of the more wimpy rocket launchers...i just want to shoot it up a lil...not completely mess with my range)

today, i was tired

after my 8am chem lab, can i stress 8am, you know what screw it.
i'd like to blow up my 8am chem lab with my rocket launcher. i WAS gonna blow up sth else, but now that i bring it up, BAH!

there are only two things may save this chem lab from reacting explosively with my friend the rocket launcher.
1. the techniques used this morning were nothing new, so new major screwing up involved (like the 0% yield i got last time)
2. the ta was in a good mood this morning and even SMILED AND LAUGHED.., you could say, the ta had good chemistry with us this morning (hahaha okay i'm too much)

but these two facts alone are not enough to redeem the facts that i hafta wake up at 7am. so on that note, FIRE THE ROCKET.

you know what, now i'm all "fired" up (HAHAH). back to what i originally was gonna rant about today. so after my tiring chem lab, i hafta go study a lil last minute for my computer logic test. i finally figured it out. whenever i have a chem lab, i have a test. OF COURSE, i only figured that out last night, so ... hahaa safe to say i wasnt prepared. well i made the mistake of going to a "quiet" cafeteria to study. then around..11:30ish, a whole bunch of high schoolers/junior highers i have no clue what they were decide to storm the caf. like WHAT! STAY IN YOUR OWN SCHOOL AND EAT! leave us uni ppl alone PLEASE! but no, they decide to act like monkeys, and two of them even playfight over a cup of coffee..right beside me...

i know, i'm a lil long winded, but i was just giving time for my rocket launcher to load up. its loaded. goodbye high school children. may this rocket blow you back to your OWN SCHOOL...FOREVER.

a new link!

i posted up a new link everybody! (how not exciting a****). but you should check it out! its this one guy/girl talking about their housemate, and stuff that the housemates does that annoys him/her.

i've actually been mulling that idea over for a while, but i think i will hold off until this lent thing is over. wouldnt want to risk calling someone an idiot for (for example) leaving the milk out.

but i actually have a lot more to complain about than just my housemates (hahaha who am i kidding i love my housemates). and i remember way back when, listening to the fan590, there used to be a random segment, where ppl were given a theoretical rocket launcher and they could blow up whatever they want.

so today, i would like to implement this on my blog, and i will try to blow sth up everytime i blog, but no guarantees.

so lets, see...what can i blow up. well i paid 5 bucks to step in a club tonight so i could support some friends who were in a fashion show. my expectations for a club were NOT MET tonight. it was more like, two separate rooms, with very lil space. i think it was a very brutal setup, and there was like a bottleneck to get in between rooms. and plus, the music wasnt all that good. maybe i'm just the non-clubbing type. but yes, tonight i would like to blow up that club, "extreme", and recomend nobody to ever go there :)

THREE in ONE

the Father, Spirit Son...the lion and the lamb (lion and the lamb)
la la la that title just made me think of that song

NE WAYS, the real poitn of the title is to point out this will be my third post today. either i'm really bored, really lonely, or i just really have that much to say. and altho i am quite bored of this studying, i'm not really lonely and i always have sth random to say.

so one of my friends just dropped by to give me a nice break from studying, and she gave me this "hi-chew" candy from hong kong...they sell them here too, but its like this fobbed out candy. and at first glance, it just looks like any random candy.

but when i put it in my mouth, its like i got an instant sugar high. and if u know me, thats...wow thats just like winning the lottery. my day brightened instantly, and i think i may be slightly hyper the rest of the night (THANK YOU VErY MCUH FRIEND I WONT GET SLEEP FOR MY 9AM tomorow morning)

so remember folks, that was "hi-chew" candy, preferably in the cola flavor. just in case u were wonderin what i wanted for my birthday, tahts in about...oh, 6 months.

stupid physiology, i just found out that my exam got moved from monday the 25th, to friday the 29th...this being my april exam...that being my last exam....that bein oh suck poo nuts! and i thought i'd be able to have some fun with engineers who finish on the 29th, now it looks like i'll be studying up to the last minute right alongside them. man, this is like a blow right to the gut (how appropriate HAHAHA).

another stupid law

so i decided to do a follow up investigative report on other stupid laws that are possibly out there, and have since given up realizing that maybe i should really investigate this so-called "physiology" that i have an exam for tomorow morning at 9am which is BRUTAL (a lot of early morning things are brutal i think)

but i do have something to share with ya'll. in Memphis, Tennessee, panhandlers must first obtain a $10 permit before begging on the streets of downtown Memphis. is this the government being money grabbers, even grabbing 10 dollars from panhandlers, who are BEGGIN FOR MONEY? and are they even gonna put this 10 dollars towards helping ppl get off the streets? or are they gonna put up fancy new street signs everywhere (sth i noticed when i went back to toronto for reading week)

or is this some sort of preventative law? i do tend to think that they make more than 10 dollars a night, so who's this gonna stop?

oh i know, the random kid like me who just wants to go make like...5 bucks randomly... thats who it'll stop. actually no it wont.

so out of the blue...or should i say blues

yes finally a pun that actually relates to the post.
while listening to outkast just now, one of their songs "my favorite things" which is just a very jazzed up version of that song everyone knows, i got the sudden craving for jazz music. so now i'm listening up to some jazz radio online, and i think this music will help me study..or put me to sleep which is a good thing cuz i have 8:30 tomorow morning BRUTAL

on another note, getting much quicker doing crosswords. i find i can get most of it done within one class, whereas b4 it took me a good four classes! and we finished one yesterday, altho we got four squares wrong, but it was so darn close i'm thinking of framing it.

on yet another completely random note, did u know that in chico, california, detonating a nuclear device within the city limits results in a $500 fine? thats actually a law. i came across this on my daily online perusals of whatevers. and this made me stop and think. that 500 dollars would sure go a long way to helping all the affected people in the event of a nuclear fallout. hey, who knows, maybe that 500 bucks could go towards tourism to attract ppl towards such a "glowing" city.

seriously who comes up with these laws.

oh and on one more random note, the person that got fired on the apprentice tonight said sth incredibly retarded, so ridiculous that i cant even remember it. but it went sth like "losers that win are better than winners".
why thank you, i couldnt have put it better myself.

20 minutes

over our usual bantering in mike's room, 3 of us housemates decided to give our next blog posts more thought than usual. changing it up a bit, you know, giving up a deep, introspective yet witty (but not ha-ha funny) post that would be worthy of an oscar were it a blog post set into picture.

i weighed the pros and cons while i was scrubbing myself clean in the shower, which by the way likes to play a game called hot and cold, where it likes to, if u will, keep me on my toes, by never staying at a decent temperature for more than a few minutes. at the end of the shower, i came to the conculsion that i, a**** y*, am not capable of writing anything of any worth in 20 minutes.

you see, when i usually blog, i just write about events or thoughts that have crossed my mind over the day. very rarely do i comment on very important issues of sort, and if i were to try, i'd come up with an empty bag after a hard night of trick-or-treating.

just read the last sentence i typed up and i dare you tell me that wasn't out there way in left field. in fact, why don't i go ahead and nominate and award myself the "award that doesnt have to make sense" award. i honestly like to think of this blog as just an outlet for my everyday thoughts. after a draining day, i plug myself back into this virtual world and transform my musings into a bunch of wonderful electrical signals (i hope you noticed how many words i used that related to electricity in that last sentence)

in fact, i'm glad that everyone has a different style of blogging. if everyone in the world had an oscar winning blog everytime around, then there actually would be no basis for comparison, and it'd be rather monotonous (note the big word) (and note the deeper topic)

so in conclusion, i would like to thank my parents for passing on the correct combination of genes to me in order for me to think the way that i do. who am i kidding, the Man up THERE needs to be thanked for my wonderfully crafted mind. i also need to give credit to my housemates who did inspire this post, at least at the beginning of the post before i started to drift. thank you. no jokes tonight ladies and gentlemen.
